Each class is 2 hours long, and held once a week or on alternating weeks. Class size is small, usually 4 students. This allows everyone ample one-on-one instruction for challenging projects. Classes are usually a mix of beginner and more experienced students. New students learn the traditional forming methods: coiling, pinching, slab forming, sculpting, using molds and wheel throwing. After that, I recommend various projects that will expand their experience and technical know-how, or the student can look within to find out what subjects, ideas or techniques are most appealing, and pursue those. Students have a huge range of choices for projects: everything from dinnerware sets and water fountains to sculptures of people, animals and fantasy creatures. Classes are usually a mix of wheel throwing, hand building and sculpting, since most people want to try out different forming methods. I enjoy creating an environment where you can feel comfortable exploring your creativity, so that you can make artwork you're proud of. Please call (530) 626-3871, anytime, for more information. |
